Kia Motors has launched the 2018 subcompact crossover SUV Niro as well as a plug-in hybrid electric car version of the same model. The Niro plug-in hybrid, mounted with high-efficiency lithium-ion polymer battery, can drive up to 40 kilometers on electric mode only and 800 kilometers on hybrid mode.
It comes with the 1.6-liter corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) engine with the maximum output and maximum torque of 105 horsepower and 15.0 kgf.m. Its combined fuel economy is 18.6 kilometers per liter for gasoline and 5.1 kilometers per kilowatt-hour.
The Niro plug-in hybrid's price range is between 33.05-35.5 million won. With government subsidies, the final price is below 30 million won. The 2018 Niro comes equipped with an integrated battery pack that's added with a high-voltage lithium-ion battery. For this reason, the car's total weight has been reduced while its trunk space has been increased by 9 liters. Its price range is 23.55-27.85 million won.
