Hyundai Motor has on April 28 revealed teaser images of its compact crossover "Kona" to be released in this summer. The Kona is the first small-sized SUV launched by the car maker. Hyundai already unveiled the same-size crossover SUV models in other markets including China (ix25) and India and Russia (Creta).
The Kona comes with Hyundai's trademark cascading grille at the front of the car. Its rear headlamps are uniquely shaped with top and bottom separated by the sharp body extension.
A Hyundai Motor official said, "Since we announced the model name early this month, we have been getting a lot of inquiries from customers." The company decided to discontinue its Accent sub-compact model, the hitherto bestselling model, based on the judgment that it overlaps with the Kona in terms of customer base.
