Samsung Display Set to Break Ground for New OLED Plant

Samsung Display is set to break ground for its new OLED plant which would cost a total of 8 trillion won.
The new OLED plant is scheduled to start mass-producing 60,000 sheets of 6G OLED on a monthly basis from 2019.
With this plant, Samsung Display aims to lead its production lead over its global rivals, solidifying its leadership position in the global OLED market.
According to the Asan city government in South Chungcheong province on June 14, Samsung Display submitted the application on June 5 to get the approval for the constructon of the new OLED plant.
The local government will make decision on whether or not to approve the construction by July 7.
Government officials said, "We have negotiated with Samsung Display over the issue for a long period of time. We expect the approval to be made by the end of this month at the earliest."
Samsung Display plans to kick-start the construction immediately after it gets the approval.
