The Korea P2P Finance Association said on July 6 that its 56 member firms' cumulative amount of loans outstanding has been 1,163 billion won as of the end of June. This is up by 172.8 billion won from the previous month and by more than 1 trillion won from a year ago when the balance was only 152.5 billion won.

By loan type, home construction loans took the largest portion of 420.8 billion won, followed by credit loans (275.8 billion won), home mortgage loans (255.5 billion won), and other collateralized loans (210.7 billion won). The average interest rate for all lenders was 14.63 percent, with the length of loans extending from one month to 48 months.

The lending balance has shrunk abruptly last month as the government restricted the per-person investment ceiling to 10 million won in efforts to minimize risk to individual investors. An official with the association said, "The month-on-month balance of loans outstanding by 47 lenders excluding those that joined us last month has shrunk by a large margin due to the government's measure."
